Questions
Where does Yolioo olive oil come from?
From selected organic olive groves in Tuscany, Italy, from the Tuscan countryside to the hills of Chianti. The oil is milled and bottled in Tuscany, close to the groves. Yolioo Limited is a company registered in England and Wales.
Is Yolioo olive oil organic?
Yes. Our extra virgin olive oils are EU certified organic (control body IT-BIO-004, Italy Agriculture) and fully traceable to the grove.
Which olive varieties do you use?
The Original and First Yield are blends of Frantoio, Leccino and Moraiolo, the classic olives of Tuscany. Lot 1 is a monocultivar made from Frantoio only, from a single grove in Chianti.
Is Yolioo olive oil cold pressed?
Yes. The olive paste is kneaded at 22–24°C, well below the 27°C limit for cold extraction. Lower temperatures give less oil but keep more aroma and polyphenols.
How quickly are the olives milled after harvest?
Within six hours of harvest. The faster olives are milled, the less they oxidise, which protects flavour and polyphenols.
How much polyphenol is in Yolioo olive oil?
The Original contains at least 500 mg/kg, First Yield at least 600 mg/kg, and Lot 1, Chianti 656 mg/kg. Every batch is analysed by an accredited laboratory, and our figures are guaranteed minimums until the best-before date, not only at harvest. See our polyphenol guide.
Which Yolioo oil should I choose?
Choose The Original for everyday cooking: balanced, fruity and gently spicy. Choose First Yield for drizzling raw over salads, bread and soups: herbal, elegant and pungent. Choose Lot 1, Chianti if you want our highest phenolic selection and the most intense flavour.
Why do you sell olive oil in cans?
Light, heat and air break down olive oil and its polyphenols. Our light-proof cans and dark glass keep light out, so the oil stays fresher for longer.
How should I store olive oil?
Keep it closed, in a cool, dark cupboard away from the hob, ideally between 14 and 18°C. Avoid the fridge. Once opened, use it within a few months for the best flavour.
Do you deliver across the UK, and how long does it take?
Yes, we deliver across the UK in about 48 hours. Delivery is free on orders over £40.
Can I subscribe to Yolioo olive oil?
Yes. The Original, First Yield, Lemon, Basil and White Truffle can be ordered as a subscription on the product page, so your oil arrives automatically.
Are your flavoured oils made with real ingredients?
Yes. Our flavoured extra virgin olive oils use real Italian ingredients, never artificial aromas. Choose from Lemon, Orange, Basil, Garlic, Chilli and White Truffle, in 250 ml bottles, and save when you mix any three.
Is Yolioo olive oil a good gift?
Yes. The Tuscany Bundle pairs The Original with First Yield and saves £5 against buying them separately. A trio of flavoured oils or Lot 1, Chianti also make popular gifts.
